It is known that humans developed the capacity of speak thousand years ago. Moreover we have improve in it field until today that there are more languages and dialects than territories in the world. But what are the advantages and disadvantages of being bilingual?

First of all, we have to think that who knows more than one language has more possibilities to get a job than someone that only speaks his mother language. Apart from that, it is scientifically proven that people who talk minimum two languages are less likely to suffer mental illness.

On the other hand, there are also negative consequences. Being bilingual or multilingual increase the possibility of not achieving a good speech. And it is also true that when you are learning a foreign language as a child, you are grouped by your age and not your level of knowledge. For this reason there are kids who are slowed down in their learning procedure, and others who are not able to keep up.

To conclude, I am in favor of being multilingual because it is true that there may be difficulties in learning it, but once you finished all you are going to find are advantages such as finding jobs more easily, or at least having more possibilities than a person who only knows one language.
