Two classmates, Maria and Pol, are talking in the playground about websites like Megadede to stream movies for free.

Pol: Maria, have I already told you that i'm watching 'Los 100'?

Maria: Oh really? But I thought you didn't had Netflix, and you can only see 'Los 100' at Netflix…

Pol: Yeah I know, I know, but I found a website called Megadede where I can stream all series and movies for free. I've already watched season one. I'm really really addicted!

Maria: Megadede? That's so bad Pol! I thought someone left you it's account so you could watch 'Los 100'

Pol: Well it's not the case, but it doesn't matter. The quality of Megadede is great.

Maria: But that's not okay. These websites are stealing the work of the companies who make the movies or series. They're losing money because you are not paying anything for their work. So basically, you are commiting a crime, like if you were a robber. Furthermore, your computer might get infected by virus!

Pol: I know Maria, but my parents don't allow me to have Netflix because they say it's too expensive. And I wanted to see 'Los 100'! That's why I use Megadede. And why paying when I can watch it for free?

Maria: That's not good, Pol. Next time if you want to see any movie or serie, ask for my account and I'll leave it to you.

Fredesvinda and Bardomiano, on their way to the cinema, are discussing about the disadvantages and advantages of online platforms like Megadede.

Bardomiano: And tell me, Fredesvinga, have you seen the new movie ‘Detective Pikachu’?

Fredesvinga: No! I was going this friday, but all the tickets were sold out. Maybe I could go next week, but i’m not sure. What about you? Have you seen it yet?

Bardomiano: Yeah, I saw it last night in Megadede. It was really cool! I could send you the link, if you want to.

Fredesvinga: What the hell Bardomiano. I’d never watch a movie in a website like that. My computer could be infected by some random virus, and I don’t want that to happen.

Bardomiano: But if you have a good antivirus you won’t get infected by any virus! I have a lot of experience on websites like that one, and I’ve never been infected.

Fredesvinga: But with virus or not, there’s a lot of spam. Imagine that someday i’m watching a movie with my family and suddenly a porn ad appears. That would be extremely shameful.

Bardomiano: There’s an app called Adblock. It blocks every single ad from every single website, even the ads from Youtube videos.

Fredesvinga: Okay, but what about the artists? You are basically stealing someone’s work. You must pay for it. If not, you’re streaming it illegally.

-Well, I’m sorry but I was checking If Netflix has posted the last season of the last TV serie I’ve been watching to.

-And why do you use that subscription streaming service If you have TV in your home?

-It has a lot of advantages; first of all, you can binge watch all series you want to and secondly, If you are not online, you can download films and series before being offline.

-Maybe, but you know that films are not the center of your life, do you?

-I never said that!

-Yes, I mean, now you’ve been checking If Netflix has posted the last season of your TV show, but you are always stuck to your phone and I don’t think it is always for the same reason. You are watching videos, posting all your life, tweeting, chatting with other people…

-Yes, I mean No! All those apps are very useful, but I’m not always with my mobile phone…

-Sure…

-Those apps are very helpful, for example you can find out breaking news faster with tweeter, facebook or instagram for example than newspapers. In addition, If you can’t hang out with your friends and you can’t call them, you can send them whatsapps, that tool is very useful!

-Maybe, but it’s useful for example when you are on bed or alone in your home, not when I’m talking to you because I remember you that we hanged out so, why do you have to chat with everyone having me in front of you?

Jorge:-What’s up?

Ingrid:-Yesterday I signed up to a streaming platform called Megadede, and I want to know your opinion about it so, what do you think?

Jorge:-I honestly think that it’s a bad idea use that type of platforms, because they can steal your identity and also they can scam you.

Ingrid:-I disagree, because this type of platforms are so safe and the quality is high. 

Jorge:-You must take more care of this things, because I have one friend that was scammed by this type of platforms and he refused to use more of them, he passed to use Netflix.

Ingrid:- Well, I think that you are right, I should stop using 

Megadede, and start to use other platforms that are safer.

Jorge:-I know you are a binge watch, so I recommend you Netflix, it came a new series that is about…

Ingrid:-Stop! Don’t spoiler me please, when I buy Netflix I’ll see it.

Pol: yes! I started yesterday, as I don’t have netflix I used megadede there are a lot of adverts but its ok

Pol: I told you! I haven’t Netflix, keep calm it is not for so much Sarah

Pol: I found out this page thanks to the world of mouth because my sister told me the last day that she use megadede, but don’t worries if you want to continue paying for the same that I do freely, continue

Lukas: Yes! It was really amazing, but I didn't see on Netflix...
Jon: So... Where did you see it?
Lukas: I usually see the series and the films in Megadede, is a platform that you can see almost everything.

Jon: And why you don't see on a legal platform? Sometimes it may contain virus.

  Antonio: I love watching series in Megadede.
 
  Erick: Really? I've never liked seeing anything there, I prefer Netflix or HBO.

  Antonio: Yes, but if I can watch a movie or serie without paying, I`ts much better.

   Erick: I agree but I couldn't stand watching a movie with so many ads, and sometimes you can't       hear in different languages only in English.
 
  Antonio:  That's the only bad thing, but just because there are advertising I do not want to pay for something that I find free if I search on pirate platforms.

 Erick: Netflix is most better than others online services because in this place where you can search for movies without waiting and without advertisings and you can download what you want to see without having Internet.

Antonio: Okey, but I don't think the same.

Two friends are leaving school, while they're talking about online platforms.

Aiden: Hey Jodie, have you seen this movie about Spider-Man, you know, the one that's in different types of animation and it's about different spider-universes, how was that? spider-verses I think?

Jodie: Well, I saw it at the cinema, but that was a long time ago.

Aiden: In a galaxy far far away?

Jodie: Dude that's a very bad joke, anyway, now that you've mentioned it, I would like to see it again, but we should have to wait until it's on stream or they sell it on stores.

Aiden: Buy movies in stores?! What are you?! A granny? Why don't you download it on Megadede or somewhere similar?

Jodie: Because this is a very good movie, and good movies should have the credit that owns them, besides, the video and sound quality is much better.

Aiden: But think it like this, if you want to watch a movie and it's that old that you can't find it anywhere "legal", you can find it on these websites, it's probable that the quality it's not the same, but at least you can watch it.

Jodie: I understand your point of view, but I disagree.

Ally and Camila are discussing about the advantages and disadvantages of online platforms such as Megadede in a bar. One of them is completely against them but the other one is a frequent user. Write their conversation.

Camila: Hello Ally! How’s it going? I was thinking about pirate platforms to watch series, I think it is very useful and without paying. Also many have a great image and audio quality.  

Ally: Hi Camila. Yes I know, but you should know what platforms are illegal and more and more people use it. Even small children can get into these pages, this can be dangerous.

Camila: These pages allow me catch-up TV in my favorite series, and see what there is in trending.

Ally: Well, I understand everything you say, but the series that are on these platforms are copyrighted. In addition, these pages can catch viruses and infect your computer. For example, I have a friend whose father had a virus on his computer because of those pages.

Camila: I think it’s is true and we should be more careful in these pages, but they are still useful and free.

Tony: Have you seen the new episode of Game of Thrones?
Nat: Yes, it was... Wait, have you seen it too? I don't want to spoil you anything.
Tony: Yes, I have seen it! Well, it was okay... I guess, but the audio quality wasn't the best, but I suppose that it was a fault of the web page where I was seeing it so...
Nat: You weren't watching the serie on a streaming service?
Tony: No, if I can watch it for free I will do it. I can watch my favorites films and shows without spending any money, why would I pay for something that I can have for free?
Nat: To help the streaming service to have more resources to buy and create more shows so we can watch them. Also, that money helps them to have better special effects or better advertisings.
Tony: First of all, ads are annoying, and secondly that streaming platform only has a good show, which was Game of Thrones and it has finished so, why would I bother now?
Nat: Ok, but other streaming platforms have films that you like, for instance, Avengers and other Marvel films.
Tony: Now that's something that I would willingly pay for! Nowadays I have more free time, and I will pay any price so I can rest and watch these films.
Nat: Only for the Avengers?
Tony: Yes.

Lucas and Pablo are drinking something in a bar, talking about the good and bad of online pirated platform as Megadede or Gnula.

Lucas: It’s nonsense to pay a subscription streaming service when you can watch any TV series or movie on the internet, which is free. There is more variety of content and it’s unlimited. Do you think the same?

Pablo: Not really. I think that it’s worth it to pay such service because it’s like a catch-up TV where you are able to see the programs that you like whenever you want. Also, you can enjoy them without having to watch any advertisement when you are having a binge watch for example.

Lucas: Maybe, but when a new show or episode is broadcast you can watch it in a live stream or sooner in online platforms, which it’s perfect to avoid spoilers.

Pablo: You may be right. But the quality of video or sound is not good so I prefer to wait and watch it enjoy fully.

Lucas: I agree. However, the important thing is to have a platform where you can watch series or movies, especially Game of Thrones. Did you see the last episode?
