DIALOGUE - Sabrina Soto

Claudia is walking alone listening to music on her headphones, and suddenly Andrew appears.
Claudia: Andrew hello, what are you doing here i thought you were with Paige.
Andrew: Yes, I was with Paige. I wanted to ask you, why are you being like this with her? You are aggressive when she’s around, you just act like she doesn't deserve anything, only the baddest. I thought it was a silly game between girls, but this is not normal, you can’t talk to her like that or make her feel bad for no reason.
Claudia: What are you trying to say?
Andrew: Claudia I'm saying that this is over, you are not going to treat her like that again. It’s not fear. She is new in the school, she needs help.
Claudia: it’s not a big deal. It’s just a girl in high school.
Andrew: Claudia it is a big deal, promise me that this won’t happen again. Just be nice, I'm not saying that you have to be her friend… just be nice and stop doing these things.
Claudia: Maybe you are right, I will do my best. But I'm not going to be her friend.

OPTION A

-Hey Jess, do you have some time?
-Sure, tell me.
-Lately I’ve seen something wrong with you.
-Uhm? What do you mean?
-It’s the way you treat Carol.
-What are you talking about?
-Don’t act like if you didn’t know what are you doing to her.
-I did absolutely nothing wrong to her.
-Yesterday I saw you pushing her down the stairs. I also see how hard you were laughing at her. Today I saw how you were making fun of her with all your friends while Carol was listening to her. But hey, you did absolutely nothing wrong to her.
-Dude, it was all just a prank. Nothing serious.
-A prank? Seriously? Hurting somebody and later make fun of the way she looks? Are you kidding me?
-She…
-No, stop. There’s no excuse in what you’ve done. Carol is suffering a lot. She has a very hard time trying to fit with other people, and now she’s being bullied. By my friend. Do you still think it’s funny?
-Maybe I’ve crossed the line a little bit.
-A little bit isn’t enough.
-I’ll go to talk with her and apologize.
-You better do, because I don’t want this type of people as my friend. It’s disgusting the way you are acting.
-I’m sorry…
-No, you say sorry to Carol. Not to me. Once you’ve done that, we’ll talk, and we’ll see if I want to keep being your friend.

DIALOGUE INGRID (Option 1)

Anna is suspecting that her friend Natasha has been being a bully and she wants to talk with her because what she is doing to the people it’s wrong:

Natasha: What did you want to say to me?

Anna: I know this conversation may be weird for you, because we never talk about these things, but I think this is serious enough to talk about it.

Natasha: Are you okay? You’re scaring me.

Anna: I think there’s a problem with your behavior with the people in the class, especially with Noah.

Natasha: What? Are you going to defend this rat? Are you friends now or what?

Anna: I don’t have to be her friend to know that what your attitude with her isn’t the correct. Listen, I know your situation at home, and isn’t easy, but you can’t pay your frustrations with some other people that has nothing to do about it, you are a person, and they are too.

Natasha: But I didn’t do anything wrong, you are overstating…

Anna: No I’m not, you think your attitude it’s normal but it’s not. You have to improve yourself and treat the others better. And if you need some help, hear I am, but I can’t allow your behavior any more, do you understand me?

Natasha: mmm… Yes, I think so… Thank you Anna, I don’t want to be this way, I just am…

Anna: It’s okay Natasha, I’m with you.

Maxine and Chloe are walking home, talking about the last class they’ve taken. Max wants to talk to Chloe about her bad behavior with Rachel.

Max: Hey Chloe, I wanted to tell you that lately, you've been bothering Rachel.

Chloe: What?! But I haven't done anything and you don't have proofs

Max: Okay, calm down. I'm just saying that you've been acting strange around her in a bad way like sometimes you punch her for no reason, you act very rude with her and you may think that you're joking and having fun with her when you are really disturbing her.

Chloe: That's not true. I'm not acting strange with Rachel, she's been acting strange with me the whole time. Haven't you notice it?

Max: Chloe, you can't fool me, you've been bullying her in some way and you have to apologize to her.

Chloe: Maybe you're right, okay I'll do it tomorrow in class.

DIALOGE OPTION 2-Marina Nieto

Josefa and Alfredo, two teachers from the Jesuitas el clot school, had a discussion about the use of ICT.

Josefa: ICT does not seem practical to me, since we cannot communicate well with the students.
Alfredo: If they can, through emails and video conferences.
Josefa: Yes, but it is not the same, because I do not know if the student has a bad situation at home and I can say something that does not sit well with him, related to the results.
Alfredo: Yes, but these are separate cases.
Josefa: They may be more than you think.
Alfredo: Well, but when it comes to dividing and delivering the works, it is much easier for us and for them.
Josefa: Yes, but many times the internet does not go well and some do not have the internet.
Alfredo: Yes ... you're right.
Josefa: The best thing is to go back to the usual, that there be more humanity and fewer screens.

Gerard and Silvia are in Judith’s house talking about Gerard’s behaviour, as a reason of Silvia’s insinuation

Gerard: hello Silvia, how you doing? today they gave us a talk about bullying, how lazy ...
Silvia: oh, hello Gerard, I thought you would not come today, could it be that you were lazy because of personal reasons?
Gerard: How? What do you intend doing that comment?
Silvia: I think you know with what intention I say it, I have seen that lately you do not treat David properly...
Gerard: What? Why you say that?
Silvia: the other day I saw that you and your friends laughed at him for always going with my group of friends, you know that there is no problem with a man going with a group of women, no?
Gerard: Yes, there is, that’s the point, maybe he is gay and he doesn’t want to assume it, and that’s why we acted like that
Silvia: Yeah, and you should also know that there is no problem on that, no? everyone is free to love whoever they want, love is love, no matter the genre... won't it be because you're the one with the personal problem?
Gerard: well, maybe I am... Thank you for telling me, I will think about it, bye.
Silvia: okay... bye!

Option 2: Dialogue

Teacher 1: Nowadays ITC is becoming increasingly. I think that is a good way of learning for the students.

Teacher 2: I tend to disagree with you there, personally, I don't really think that it could be a good way of learning for the students, The main reason I say that is because people are relying more on the technology for their memory than using their own mind.

Teacher 1: I see what you mean but ITC have created educational opportunities not available to previous generation, moreover, it has created new job opportunities and a easier communication between people.

Teacher 2: I take your point, ITC may have made communication quicker and easier but it also has brought privacy issues. A lot of people are scammed or hacked through that.

Teacher 1: That's not always the case, yes it can be but I think that there are more good people that bad ones.

Teacher 2: Another point I like to add about is that people are relying of all the information that they see on internet, and that's not all reliable all of us can access to internet and post things, so, for that reason not all the things we see on the internet is reliable.

Teacher 1: Yeah, I'd go along with that, but I think that is important not to forget that through ITC teachers are able to create classrooms and make the lessons more enjoyable.

Teacher 2: Yes, but not all the teachers had the knowledge of using that.

Teacher 1: Okay, so, we don't see eye to eye about ITC. I'm thirsty, shall we go to the coffee shop for a drink?

Teacher 2: Yes, I'm thirsty too.

Dialogue 1 - Laia Piqué

Laia: Excuse me, do you think your behaviour is normal? I have seen you kicking people without any context.

Bully: I don’t know if it’s normal or not but I can’t stop it’s just part of myself.

Laia: But maybe that behaviour it’s because of some internal problem that you may have like, rage or something like that.

Bully: I don’t really know maybe it’s that, but even though that I can’t do anything because I can’t control myself.

Laia: You are not alone, there’s a lot of people that deal with similar problems, there’s a solution for all that. But on the other hand you should implicate and collaborate to have a result.

Bully: I can try.

Laia: There are other things you can do like some type of sport or maybe try to find some hobby that makes you stay relaxed, like painting, drawing, make music, photographie, etc. There are a lot of options.

Bully: I think I could try thank you.

Option 1 - Alessandra Puccio

Option 1
In our way home from school, I speak to my friend Zoe about her about her behavior lately, because I’m concerned about her being a possible bully.
Alessandra: I’ve been thinking lately about your behavior these days towards a classmate… I don’t think it’s okay to make her feel bad about her hairstyle.
Zoe: So? It’s funny to bother her, also, it’s ‘cause her hairstyle is really, really ugly…
Alessandra: But… It’s not right. You wouldn’t want someone to tease me because my hairstyle, would you?
Zoe: Of course not! Maybe you’re right… but what can I do? It has become a habit for me…
Alessandra: No worries, I’m gonna (going to) help you. Remember, Zoe, treat others as you would like them to treat you,’ kay?
Zoe: Okay.

DIALOGUE OPTION 2 - Miriam Ludeña

Two teachers get in an argument, one more oldfashioned, the other a tech genius.

Tony: No, the kids don't need the ICT classes, we would have to slow down our classes and it would mess up our schedule. Furthermore, they already know everything about technology!

Steve: But they could learn new things, I am sure that there's at least one kid that is ashamed to ask something because they think that people would laugh at them for asking something that's obvious!

Tony: If you are talking about yourself… One, you are too old to be a kid, two, you can just ask me. Do you need help with Google, oldman? Or something simpler, like sending an email? No need to rush you know.

Steve: I am serious. I know that you have always had a gift for technology, but not everyone here is a genius like you.

Tony: Obviously.

Steve: Maybe they can learn about security, how to protect their personal data, the risks of the internet…

Tony: Okay, that would be useful, but if I teach them to protect their personal data and then you can't send them emails, or if after some classes they all lend their online tasks on time because somehow they have learnt programming it's not my fault.

Option 2: Dialogue- Laia Carré

Option 2: Dialogue
Two teachers are discussing the rights and wrongs of Information and Communication Technology (ICT, learning how to use new technologies) as a school subject. Write down their conversation.

SEPTEMBER 2008

Raul and Laia, two teachers, are talking about ICT.
Introduce technology as a school subject to help students and learn to use it.

Laia: They should introduce the subject because that way we can inform them and teach them what it is for.

Raul: By doing this we could make them use the internet wrongly.

Laia: That is why, thanks to this subject, they learn, in addition to using it, to know what can be done with it and to know what they cannot do. If from the beginning we teach them what is right or wrong they will not have the need to do it.

Raul: But they will want to find out for themselves.

Laia: But think that if they learn to use technology in the future everything will be easy for them. It will be easier for them because the world is intruding on technology in all jobs and if they do not master it, they will have fewer possibilities.

Raul: You're right, if we teach them from the beginning in the future it will be easier for them. But I think we should also teach them what they cannot do with technology.

Laia: I totally agree with you!

Raul: Perfect that we have reached an agreement then!

DIALOGUE

Marcello and Alberto are in a cafeteria drinking something and talking about their classmates and Marcello’s behaviour toward them.

Alberto: Recently, I’ve noticed that you act roughly with our schoolmates. I think that you should try to chill a little bit or they are going to be afraid of you if they aren’t already.

Marcello: What do you mean? I don’t do anything wrong! It’s just that sometimes they piss me off, so I get angry. Also, you know that I’ve bad temperament.

Alberto: It’s not just that. You’re always making fun of their outfits, hobbies, or even when they try to talk to the class or answer the teacher’s questions.

Marcello: Well, that’s true, but I can’t help laughing. I mean, they’re hilarious and wear ridiculous t-shirts. How am I not supposed to say something funny about it? It’s unavoidable!

Alberto: Except that it’s is not funny. Marcello, you are hurting their feelings and making them uncomfortable in class. You have no right to judge what people do and wear, because everyone has the right to be themselves without feeling threatened by people, especially by their classmate.

Marcello: Come on Alberto! Don’t exaggerate! I’m sure they don’t see it that way, otherwise, they would have told me.

Alberto: Of course they aren’t going to say anything. They don’t want you to get angrier and to risk to become your teasing target. What it’s more, some of them don’t want to tell you because they know it would hurt your feelings. Despite that, you continue teasing them without thinking which the consequences of your words and action are and how it affects them.

Marcello: Wait! You’re telling me that they think of me like if I was a…bully?

Alberto: Just think of how you would feel if it was the other way around.

Marcello: You’re right. I don’t think I would feel great if they do the same. From now on, I will improve my behaviour and treat them better, I promise. Thanks, Alberto, I really appreciate your honesty.

Alberto: Your welcome! That’s what friends are for!

DIALOGUE OPTION 1: Christian Arteaga Delgado

Lukas and Christian are in a cafeteria hanging out until Lukas remembers an action Josh did towards his friend Kris. So Lukas tried to want to know the truth:

- Lukas: First of all, yesterday I saw that you talked to Kris, furthermore, I saw how you ended up making him cry. What did you say to him?

- Christian: I ... I really don't know what you're talking about, I didn't talk to him.

- Lukas: I saw yesterday how you made my friend cry and I would like to know what happened to be able to settle things between you.

- Christian: For starters, you shouldn't get into other people's affairs ...

- Lukas: Please, I just want to help you, after all I know that you have some problems.

- Christian: Well, I just had a bad day and I spoke to him badly and also yelled at him.

- Lukas: What did you tell him?

- Christian: Nothing ... well everything I said was a lie.

- Lukas: You know you should talk to him, he is sensitive

- Christian: Yes, but I don't know

- Lukas: If you want, I'll come with you and you can talk about it calmly ... right?

- Christian: You're right, and thanks for helping me, moreover I hope you understand.

- Lukas: You're welcome, count on me if you need help with something.

Option 1: Dialogue/ Paula Vera

Jane is talking to sarah about what happened the last month with her and sally, they are in a break between classes, sarah is getting nervous and tries to avoid the conversation.

Jane: I see how you treat her, you know you are hurting her feelings but...I don't know.. It’s like you don’t care.

Sarah: It’s a problem between sally and me, you don't have nothing to do.

Jane: You humiliated her this morning in front of everyone, don’t you? It doesn’t seem like something just between you and sally, what’s more, they hate her because of the false rumours you spread about her.

Sarah: Who told you that? anyways, everyone hates her, why do you focus on me?

Jane: Sarah, you really need to stop before this gets any further, please talk to her about how do you feel, I can see how this situation is hurting you too, even though you act like it’s not.

Sarah: Please stop talking like you know how does it feels, what about you minding your own problems? - the ring of the next class sounds and everyone starts to go to their classes-  We have to go or we will be late.

Jane: You have to promise me that you will try to talk to her about this, after all, you two were friends. - said jane barely hearing her own voice because of the people talking too-

Sarah:  I should do so many things Jane, I don’t promise you anything - said sarah before disappearing between the people in her class -

Option 2:

Sarah and Paul are discussing about the ICT subject, if it is a good idea because they both
found out that maybe the school should renovate some aspects of the education due to the evolution of knowledge about new technologies.

Sarah: Hey Paul!

Paul: Hey Sarah! How you doin’ today?

Sarah: Oh, well, thanks for asking, how ‘bout you?

Paul: All right here!

Sarah: Glad for you! By the way, I was wondering what do you think about ICT subject, I realised that other schools are teaching this subject.

Paul: Well, I think it’s an interesting subject, I’ve heard that other schools are innovating too, teaching about technologies.

Sarah: Oh, I’d like to learn Information and Communication Technology in a deeper way, hope some day we’ll join this subject in our school.

Paul: Yeah! it sounds interesting, but you should think about all the costs, here we don’t have people who cant teach about technologies and all the material required for this class is very expensive.

Sarah: Oh! I didn’t think about that, but think, ICT is the future, the new era, I think that we should take part of this new époque the earlier as possible.

Paul: Sure, but, did you think about environment impact that would provoque? All the sacrifices, like putting in danger some species of wild animals, their habitats, risk people lifes who work for a misery, all the pollution,…

Sarah: Hm, you are smart, I like to talk with you, but, what do you think about not giving a type of knowledge to our students?

Paul: Hm, that’s true, we should offer to our students all the knowledge we can, knowledge enrich our minds. However, I’m not very sure about the solution, we have a lot of issues in the world, too much too just ignoring them and evolving technologies.

OPTION 1:

Hannah after the end of the classes is searching Ruth to talk about Mary, who is treated unfairly.

Hannah: Hello Ruth, do you have some time? I would like to talk with you about Mary. During a period of time I’ve seen that she is unhappy and is not well treated and I’ll try to change the situation as much as I can. I decided to talk with you first to know if you are concerned about the situation.

Ruth: Ah…, I don’t know what are you talking about, are you talking about the girl who sits always next to me? I thought she was called Marlene.

Hannah: Don’t act like you don’t know her, you know she has been for a week trying to talk with you, and she is called Mary.

Ruth: Oh, really? I’ve never noticed about that…, so, what happens with Marla?

Hannah: What? Really? Oh my god, did you pay attention about what I’m telling? I’m talking about Mary, can you just remember that? Mary was trying to catch your attention and you just ignored her!

Ruth: Oh well, I think she is the girl who was trying to seduce me. Humph! She won’t never ever have a chance with me, so tell her I’m not interested, thanks.

Hannah: What? she is not interested in you in that way, who could? So, now I understand why everybody calls her all that stuff.

Ruth: What stuff? Gay? What’s wrong with that, I accept gays, I have a friend who is gay.

Hannah: Wow! I won’t enter here; I’m just trying to tell you that you both have a home task in pairs, you are not the centre of the world.

Dialogue - Mercè Pérez

Dialogue – Option 1
During break time Hillary decided to talk with Ashley about her bad behavior with a friend of them (Harper) and because of this Hillary tried to give her opinion:
-        Hillary: Ashley, I’ve seen some behaviors of you towards Harper that I don’t really like at all.
-        Ashley: Sorry, but I don’t know what are you trying to say.
-        Hillary: What I mean is that the other day I saw how you pushed Harper through the stairs and then you laughed at her with some of your friends.
-        Ashley:  Ok, what do you want me to do now?
-        Hillary: I only want to help my partners and I think you need some.
-        Ashley: I don’t need help from anyone.
-        Hillary: I don’t know what’s wrong with you but maybe the only thing you need is talk to someone
-        Ashley: Ok, you’re right. I need help about one thing that happened to me.
-        Hillary: Well, and what can I do for you?
-        Ashley: What happened the other day is that I was talking to Harper and suddenly she looked behind me as if she was laughing at me, and that made me feel bad.
-        Hillary: I think that maybe what you should tried to do was talking with her instead of pushing her down the stairs.
-        Ashley: Oh, I think you’re right. Thanks for your help. Today at midday I’m going to try to talk with her.
-        Hillary: You’re welcome. I hope you fix all this misunderstanding.
