INFORMAL EMAIL 2-Marina Nieto

Hi Jorge,

I have been told that you still don't have Facebook !!  Friend what are you waiting for?  You are one of the only ones that does not have.

Look, if you had Facebook we could talk on the chat all together since you can add all of us and your family if you want, although it is a bit strange hahaha.
Also, you can share photos and videos and see what we post !!
Apart from that you would see all the news that goes through the neighborhood and gossip you already know hahahaha.
And I know that sometimes you have clothes that you do not wear like the blue striped shirt, that and many more clothes you could sell there.

Finally, I know that one of the ideas that comes to mind the most is "is that I will never be intimate", of course, if you have the option of putting the private profile and if someone bothers you or something, you can block it.

Come on, are you up for it?

I love you,
Marina

Hello Jose,

I have found out that you have bought yourself a new computer, with which you can do many things that you could not do before, one of them is having Facebook and I know you do not want to have it, but I will give you reasons to have it.

First of all, you can be connected with your friends, family or colleagues through chat. This allows direct contact at any time of the day, even when the other person is not connected. You can also find friends from your childhood, with whom you played when you were a child, enter the search engine at the top, write your name and voila, identified.

Secondly, Facebook also has disadvantages like many other things, one of them is that you can become addicted to it, just like with instagram and that can be harmful to your life. You also have to be careful with false profiles, many people do them with the aim of knowing important information about you and then stealing or extorting you. However, you can control this by not adding unknown people.

By the way, if you create facebook let me know that I will send you a friend request.

Greetings.

Oscar Lobo

Hi Sarah!
First of all, thank you for inviting me to your home, I’m so glad to spend time with you and your family!
From this trip I hope to learn many things both from you and from the Australian culture in general, the truth is that I love to travel and meet new places but if it is with good people like you, better! However, be prepared, because I’m keen on trying new foods and I'm quite greedy with food
Later I also hope to teach you things at a cultural level and in my language, Catalan.  Moreover, I want to improve my English, because I ‘m taking the CAE 2 which is the english certificate I reclame.
Well, to finish, I hope you are having a good time at home with family and that you welcome me with open arms!
Best wishes,
Judith

Dear Claudia,
Thank you very much for your last letter. It was great to hear form you after so many
months. You seem to be having a nice time in France. How’s it going?
However, i wanted to talk with you about Facebook, I know you haven’t joined to this app
yet.
In spite of, one of the best advantages of this app, is that you can chat with your friends,
family... This app is the most powerful social media and social networking. It helps a lot
with business.
On the other hand, one of the major concerns and disadvantages of Facebook has to do
with the privacy, because many unknowing users still end up publishing private images
and status updates publicly.
In my opinion, don’t joined if it’s not for business.
Hope to see you soon!
Sabrina.

Dear Sarah,

How are you? Thank you and your family for inviting me to come to Australia some days.
I’m writing to ask you if you could help me with the organization of the trip. I don’t know a lot about Sydney, and I was wondering if you could send me some places or important monuments to visit. During my trip I would like to learn about your culture and your history, so I’m expecting to visit some museums.

Don’t worry about the organization of the days, I will make a route for everyday with the places you find more interesting and important.

See you soon,

Hello Alexis,

How are you doing? I’m glad to hear that you finally got a new mobile phone, the last one was from the stone age. I see that you are reluctant to use Facebook, but now I’m going to give you some reasons why you should download this app.

First of all, you can talk with all your friends, no matter how far they are, and I know that we have WhatsApp to do that. However, not only does Facebook allow you to chat with them, but also can you see what is going on in their lives and they can see yours too. But don’t worry about privacy, because you are the one who decides which people can see your posts and if someone is bothering you, it’s as easy as block them.

One more thing, you should moderate the time you spend using this app, because it isn’t beneficial for our health to spend many hours there. This shouldn’t be a problem for you, because I know that you’re conscious of the media. It’s just a question of self-control and combines it with other hobbies.

By the way, since you have been researching for the best mobile phones, could you recommend me one? I would like to buy a new one for my birthday and I would appreciate your opinion about it.

Anyway, I guess it’s time I go on with that studying I’ve been avoiding. I look forward to hearing from you. I hope I can add you as my friend on Facebook soon.

Lots of love,
Laura.

Hello Sarah!

How are you?
I'm writing you because as you may already know, i'm visiting you and your family in Australia this summer. I'm looking forward to spending some days there because I'd like to have a wonderful experience with you. Therefore, let me share what I expect to live together with you.

First of all, I'd like to practice my spoken English because my boyfriend is from USA and he can't speak Catalan. Then I'd like to visit one of the wonderful safaris in Australia and scuba-diving in the Grate Coral Barrier.

However, i'm worried about the time zone and the hot weather in summer, so I hope to get used to all these situations to start enjoying my stay as soon as possible.

Anyway, I'm very excited to visit Australia and make my expectations true.

See you soon,

Best,

Emma.

Hi there, Sarah
It’s great to hear from you. I’m glad you invited me to spend some time with you and your family.
I just know a few things about Sydney, so I hope I could learn a lot when I’m there. But for the things I currently know, Sydney has a very big opera house; unless I’m not an opera fan, I would like to visit it as I think the building is very interesting.
I am also aware of Australian people having another slang, so I think it as curious as interesting, so it would be nice to learn a bit about it.
By the way, I remember that in the movie Finding Nemo, which is one of my favorite Disney movies, it was located in Sydney and in the second part, Finding Dory, they were in the Sea Life Sydney Aquarium
Anyway, hope everyone’s doing well,
Laia

Dear Lily,

Social networks as Facebook has been very popular nowadays, which it has over millions of users using it.
One the one hand the advantages of using Facebook are that the website allows you to share with other people what you desire to share like videos, pictures and in same way others can share with you, also you can ask for public opinion or questions, another advantage is that you can text and call people free and unlimited.

But on the other hand, the disadvantage of Facebook are that it is very addictive which often kills yours valuable time and brings you far away from your family and real life. Also, there is not a good protection of your privacy, everyone can see your profile and there are people who steal your photos for pretending to be you for cheating other people and making a bad use of Facebook. So, you also can be cheated, another point is that there are some people that publish wrong information and news for free and cheap publicity to get more likes and comments to bring their pages on the top and then sell their pages expensive.

Personally, I don't really recoment you to use Facebook because there is not a good protection of privacy I know that there are other social networks with the same advantages as Facebook and with more protection of privacy like WhatsApp. In WhatsApp, only people that you have aggregated can see your personal information.

Hope to see you soon

MingRong

Informal letter - Option 2

Dear Maria,

How are you? I hope you doing well. When we were talking the other day I felt you didn’t want to join Facebook so I wanted to let you know some advantages and disadvantages about it.

Taking in count what we talked on Monday, the think you worry about the most is your intimacy, regarding on it you don’t have to keep it in mind because as other social networks it has a privacy policy. Moreover you have the option of making your account private so that in that way people don’t have direct access to your life. Also, you are obviously not obligated to upload whatever you do every day. Besides that, if you have Facebook you will notice lots of thinks that maybe you are interested about.

Additionally, wasting time is not a reason to pull you back because if you worry about it you are not going to fall in being always connected.

By the way, make up your mind and let me know your decision.

Take care,

Mercè

Opinion 1:
Hey Sarah,
You know what happened to me yesterday?

The Jones family, long time fiends of Australia, invited me to his house. It will be a great opportunity.
I think that excites me the most are the traditional foods of Sydney, for example the grilled kangaroo, because nobody knows this dish. But by another band this dish cause me a sad feeling and I don’t know if I’ll eat it.
The views, all the photos that people post on instagram from Australia are beautiful. I can’t wait to see all that this beaches and places.
The Jones family told me that there are many things to see at the Sydney Opera, that famous building in front of the see. I will try to go.
I’m so exited about this travel.

I will ask if you can go with me and we can live this experience together, what do you think?
I wait for an answer.
Good bye honey.

Hello Marie,

How are you doing? I hope you are doing great. I’ve heard that you don’t want to join Facebook, so I wanted to tell you a few things  about it.

About losing your  intimacy because using Facebook, well that's true but not quite. You can make your account public or private so you don't have to worry about strange people seeing your information and photos.

Oh, but about spending too much time while you are at facebook ... I can’t say anything against that to be honest, because there are so many interestings things you can find there.

By the way, if you sing in, let me know to add you to a facebook group where we share memes and interesting stuff you might like.

Well I guess I should go study, good look with yours studies too.

Take care,

Alessandra

Hi,

Thanks to you and your family for inviting me to Australia, I can’t wait to come and visit! I’m really happy that we’ll see each other from a few months.

During this trip I hope to learn many new things. Australian culture, food and customs. In my country there are many music festivals, I wish that in Australia there would also be. I hope to disconnect from my daily routine because a break never goes wrong, also I am very stressed lately with work and I want to relax.

Moreover, I want to improve my English, because I want to get an English certificate and I want to get it with a good grade. So, I would like you to always speak to me in English.

At last, I hope to have a good time with you and your family in Australia.

I’m really looking forward to see you!

Best wishes,
Paula
